Almost 17 years after the idea was first put forward by the committee of CRC’s predecessor, the Long Cove Creek, “Go-mo-ra” Rowing Club, and after more than 18 months’ deliberation, the South Eastern Planning Panel has approved Community Rowing Club’s development application lodged with Inner West Council for the construction of a purpose-built, fully accessible community boatshed.

The approval means that CRC is now permitted to proceed with the detailed design and construction work to make this shed a reality, and build the first entirely new club on Iron Cove in a century (UTS Haberfield having been founded in 1925, Drummoyne in 1919, and Leichhardt in 1886).
We are incredibly appreciative of our wonderful architects Philip Thalis and Brett Sperling of Hill + Thalis, for their incredible support and patience in a protracted and complex process. We also are so grateful to Philip Bull of Civic Assessments, our planning consultant, and to the very many others who have done such an extraordinary job in bringing this vision to reality, including our incredible concept architects and designers Stephen Beaufils and Christopher Malouf.
We’d also like to thank the Australian Olympic Committee, Paralympics Australia, Rowing Australia, Rowing NSW, the many clubs and rowers, as well as distinguished members of the community who have supported our proposal over the past years and at all stages.
Special thanks also must go to our very generous donors who have supported the program’s efforts in achieving this approval. We thank Misha Joukowsky, the Kinghorn Foundation, and our other generous donors without whom we would not have been able to reach this point.
Now our attention turns to raising the funds needed for this exciting project – and growing our club which is committed to providing opportunities for all!
