The NSW State Championships was held over three days from Friday to Sunday in the first weekend of February, and what a great weekend it was!

Day 1 – Well done Ladies !
What a day to start the Championships – singles, doubles and prepping the four.
CRC excelled, Alex jumped in and stroked the double for Beccy from Bundy and they looked magnificent.
Kat and Bronte doubled up, rowing as one and coming home looking slick. While our gleaming golden two – Amber and Jenni – had a great tussle all the way down the course each wanting the win.
Go the Teal White and Mauves!
Our visitor, Beccy, who joined us for the day rowing her single then doubling with Alex had a ball and gave each race her all.
Very special thanks to Olivah, Richard,. Alex”s mum,. Donna Marshall,.Paul Bradley who helped load, carry, in fact anything they could assist with.
Day 2 saw Jenni, Amber, Kat, Bronte, Alex, Rebecca M (our visiting social member from Bundaberg), and Rebecca J (our visiting friend from ACT) racing.
Jenni and Amber had a terrific race for the 500 Rec single scull championship. This year saw Jenni cross the line in front of Amber. Well done both!
Bronte raced the 2km against almost a full field. She was in the mix for a podium for most of the race but was pipped into 5th in the dying stages. Congrats to Rebecca J on her 4th placing. She and Bronte had a great race with each pushing the other all the way down the course. Rebecca M raced superbly even though she hasn’t been able to train for some time given her coach’s injury. Nothing impeded her desire to give her best and she did.
The doubles race was tough. The competition against our two doubles of Alex and Rebecca M, and Bronte and Kat, made for a tough race. Special thanks to Alex BC for, at short notice, jumping into the double with Rebecca whose intended partner was injured a few weeks earlier.

Day 3, Sunday, was all sweep and we finished the two races smiling. Congrats to Kat and Rebecca J for their great row over win in the pair, adding gold to Jenni’s tally. They both rowed extremely well and will be a good combination for the future!
Following quickly was the four with Flynn W (SRC) making our fourth rower for the crew. Congrats to Flynn, Kat, Bronte , Jack and our amazing cox, Jacky (St George) who had them flying down the course to take gold and another state championship.
We finished with 3 State Championships from a competing squad of 6 CRC rowers. Amazing results – well done all.
Special thanks to-
- our Trailer driver. Without James J’s assistance driving, loading, (grabbing those extra riggers on Saturday just in case they were needed) no one would have been able to compete let alone win. Thanks James.
- Alex BC for jumping in and racing (and your mum for her hands on and Philips head screwdriver ). Alex was there to help load and unload as well as do anything that helped make the weekend a success.
- Olivah for once more assisting to load, unload, cheer the rowers and generally help in any way possible. Oli also spent Friday and Saturday volunteering for RNSW – an all round great clubbie!
- Donna M for helping with the loading after racing on Saturday.
- Rebecca J and her dad Graeme for coming to boat unloading and being the extra hands we.needed.
A great weekend for all. A fab weekend for CRC
we can’t wait for Nationals !
